Coping with lockdown

Hi I'm Lily, and I'm fairly new to this blog, but today I shall be writing about what I've been doing and ways to cope with what was a rather sudden lockdown.

Before the lockdown I never really did much apart from sit down and play on the family PS4, go on social media and head off to school on weekdays. I have wanted to do more for quite a while but never really knew what. Then when the lockdown came and most of us were stuck inside all week I started to find things that I enjoyed doing and I hope this can help some of you find things to do as well.

As well as my parents and brother, my family consists of some guinea-pigs, rabbits and chickens. The rabbits are my own and before the lockdown I only really went out to them once or twice a week (as well as check there water and clean them out), but after being stuck inside with nothing to do all day I've began to see them more. So if you have any pets at home maybe try spending more time with them.

I've also been doing more things in our back garden. Due to there being shortages of food at supermarkets, I've started growing some food of my own, my first lettuce is ready to eat now and my cucumbers have just started flowering. If you have a back garden I would recommend growing some tasty fruit and veg, but if you don't you can even dedicate a spot in the house for some.

Something that I never really did more of other than about two walks each week was exercising but since the lockdown I've been doing a lot more. Because you don't really need anything to do certain exercises other than a bit of space I would definitely recommend doing a few sit ups in between your two Netflix movies. Also as you do more you will feel yourself be able to do an extra 5 squats. I find exercise a good way to get motivated and do other things because once you've done some your body is ready to do more things such as take the dog out for a walk.

I feel this gave me a push to start doing more and be more active. I also hope I will be able to keep it up when I start going to college. Hope you can take some of these tips as well as other tips from some other of our posts.

Stay safe
-Lily
